I heard this location, being the original location of Chef Morimoto's first restaurant was the best.  It was not the best in my opinion.  I came along with my twin and Libra's to celebrate our birthdays.  Morimoto needs to come back and visit more often for some quality checks. Sure the view from the 2nd fl lounge was spectacular and while waiting for everyone to arrive, we had ourselves some delicious concoctions.  The long dining room itself is fluid and visually stunning. Let me just run through our courses. Sashimi platter for $50 & some complimentary uni* http://www.rateclubs.com/bi... Toro Tartare 10 Hour pork - kakuni braised pork bell with hot rice porridge http://www.rateclubs.com/bi... Yosedofu - fresh tofu created at your table served with two sauces http://www.rateclubs.com/bi... Rock Shrimp tempura Duck duck duck - Madras roasted duck breast, confit risotto, duck egg, mandarin oolong reduction http://www.rateclubs.com/bi... Black cod miso http://www.rateclubs.com/bi... Seafood Tobanyaki http://www.rateclubs.com/bi... Chilean seabass - They were out so they substituted a similar type of fish.  Can't remember what it was. We sampled some other things such as their Surf & Turf and NY Strip Steak from the 2 other tables we had. http://www.rateclubs.com/bi...There was a mish mash of assorted raw sashimi strips with avocado salad as a side on the NY strip steak.  It looked horribly awry once the server mixed in the avocado dressing.  I almost didn't want to sample it from my friends plate as it did not look appetizing at all. http://www.rateclubs.com/bi... Everyone who got the Tobanyaki and Chilean seabass w/black bean sauce was extra salty.  I sampled some and it was barely edible.  Someone went overboard on the salt.  The substitute Chilean seabass fish looked bland and boring and it was so salty my friend had to scrape her black bean sauce off it.  The waitress was nice though, and they tried to bring her something else but we were full and she didn't want to bother. My duck duck duck (say that 10x fast) was ok.  I had so much of it leftover but it wasn't good enough for leftovers.  If you know me, you know that I always take leftovers as I don't like to waste food. The standout dishes of the night was the Yosedofu, the crab sauce was like crack sauce.  We kept dipping all our tofu into it and it melted into our mouthes.  When we ran out, we were all sad.  Until we saw dessert, then it made us a little happy.  We had the Pot du creme http://www.rateclubs.com/bi...& the Yuzu meringue tart http://www.rateclubs.com/bi....  Both were amazing and visually appealing too. To summerize: Food - 3 Stars (mediocre) Service - 4 stars (attentive) Ambience - 4 stars *It was complimentary because they didn't write down my order and gave us 4 pieces, instead of just 1

I came here on New Years' Eve and it was so insanely crowded.  I was expecting crowded due to the holiday, but it was seriously over the top.  It was impossible to get drinks because it was so hard to even get near the bar.  The music was good and I enjoyed dancing but the dance floor on the first floor was too small.  The coat check was insanity and I thought the bouncers were unnecessarily rough with people.  I wouldn't come back here.

This review is based on numerous visits in the past year. Male/Female Ratio: 1.2/1.0, so slightly better than the average nightclub Sociability of People: Moderate to Low General Attractiveness of People (out of 10): 7.3 Pros: I went to this place years ago when it was called Calypso City. It's an entirely new experience now. The decor and setup is surprisingly metropolitan for a West Indian nightclub. There are a few people of all races and stripes in attendance. The crowd is less rowdy (as the new generation of West Indians is more refined) and safety is not an issue. The music is a lot of hip-hop, reggae, soca, and calypso, and is always awesome. There is a lot of potential to meet and party with great people here. Cons: Like any nightclub, the M/F ratio can deteriorate as the night goes on. The drinks are pricey, but that's how they make their money so it's understandable. The food is also pricey, but they have some West Indian favorites made fresh, even at 1 and 2am, so I was pleasantly surprised by that. Sociability can be tough, because in West Indian culture people are (generally) less open to new people, but the situation is workable and getting better with time. Overall a quality club experience, especially if you get there earlier.
