My friends and I arrived around midnight and were originally on guest list to get in free before 11 (damn.. the things you miss out on for being a procrastinator). They told us they wanted full cover which was like $20 or something outrageous. We were able to negotiate down to $15 and we walked in. Had I known that the second room was closed I would have tried to negotiate the cover price more. I don't really mind paying cover, but when it's less than 2 hours til last call and half the place is closed, I don't really know about a $15 cover. Anywho, I digress. The club was... let's say, amusing. We came on a Friday night and I would say by far the best thing about Saint is the music. It's a great mix of pop/hiphop throw back jams and feel good music from the 90s that you can dance to. I found myself being constantly content with the stuff that would stream through the speakers. The worst part about it was the crowd. I was literally stalked all night by an overzealous dude who couldn't take a hint. At one point he literally tried to hold me down and give me a lap dance. Sketchy to say the least. Also - my friend's sweater got stolen. Lame. The drinks were watery and the space almost seemed dirty to me at times. I saw garbage around and it just sort of felt like I was partying in a basement. Definitely not worth the cover charge to hear music I could play for free on my own iTunes.
by Harland Druckhammer on Since their "reopening" the Cafe has lacked the local crowds that used to make this the place to go. The bartenders are cool and the reason for two stars, but the music stinks and the crowd is imported from across the bay. Bars ebb and flow over the years so hopefully this place gets back to what it used to be and I get to eat this review!!
