by America M. on After deciding that Mo-Chica is somewhere I want to sit in and eat at, me and my boyfriend (Alex) decided to order some take-out from Fronteras. I had the chile verde w refried beans and "mexican" rice with a cup of the black bean soup (bomb! great for dipping chips into). The chile verde was bomb and so were the beans.The rice was wack! Mexican rice is a big deal people! Ur what's supposed to be a mexican restaurant. If you can't make it right just make the white one with veggies and add some chicken broth for flavor. Don't serve this shit with your meals. It doesn't taste like anything! It should taste like onions,tomatoes and a touch of garlic. Minus one star for that one. Alex had the barbacoa with the rice and beans and a cup of menudo. He liked the barbacoa and beans. He agreed with me that the rice sucked.Booo! He has yet to eat the ceviche appetizer he ordered but the night is young and we still have some Woody Harrelson. We also agreed that the service was shitty. How can you fuck up phone service? Well you can be dumb and not know how to answer my questions or recommend food. Minus one star for bad phone service and bad pick up service to boot. Salsa is good and so was the Jamaica.
by T C. on Other than the novel method to get into the club, this place doesn't offer much. Of course, you'll only know that if you can get in. Guys beware: If you aren't in line with a girl, you're not getting in.(it happened to me; my wife was already inside, and I stood in line, and when I got to the front, I was told I could not get in) I am sure all those chics appreciate not having guys in the club; who's going to buy them their drinks? Unless you're a tourist and don't want to go more than a block or two from Union Square, you can skip this club.
by Laurie Lathan on Vertigo is a great little place. Small bar and dance floor but if you get there early and claim a table it is well worth it to stay awhile. The music is good and they take requests. There can be a cover certain nights and at certain times. If you end up not liking it you've only wasted $2 or $3 bucks and there are other cool bars in this area on Polk. Give it a try!
