by Rhonda G. on The ambiance was really mellow and laid back. A lot of couples and the crowd was at least 45 and up. I can't remember what I ordered but I didn't like it as much. I ate it because it cost a lot and when I ordered a drink for almost $20 it was really small and did not give me a buzz. The live band was great and the female singer did her thing. I heard so much hype about this place and I was excited to try it out but when I went, I was slightly disappointed, but made the best out of the night anyway. I may go again but no time soon. It is a nice place, but not a place to go if you are single and looking to mingle because like I said almost everyone there was already with someone and the drunks and food are overpriced and you don't get your money's worth for what you pay. Oh, I forgot to mention, the nicer the car you roll up in the better valet service you get.
by Mimi X. on Let me break it down for you...because a place that is holds patrons in such disregard should get blasted... This is a rant - not intended to be useful, cool or funny. The service at this place is abysmal. The concept of this place is great - mixed crowd, good music, eat and drink on, but if you're coming to the Fillmore for jazz AVOID this place - go to Yoshi's, the service at Popeye's Chicken is better. 1). We (a party of 4) seat ourselves at a table, no staff in sight. The waitress comes around and removes the greasy cheap-o paper place mats on the table and leaves the soggy not-so-dirty mats on the table. I hand them to her and she says "that's just water on there" and walks away... 2) Service took soooo long...I mean we were sitting there for 30 minutes without even water 3) I eventually got up to find the waiteress to order a bottle of their Robert Mondavi Chardonnay. I found her she said okay and I walked back to our table. 4) She gets there with a bottle and 3 glasses and she doesn't show us the bottle and proceeds to uncork it, she's obviously in a hurry...out comes some red wine and I look at the bottle and it's a Cabernet. I told her I ordered Chardonnay?! She mumbles something under her breath and walks away...I called her out on it, and asked her what she said....She said " you just said Robert Mondavi, you didn't say you wanted the Chardonnay" By this time, I'm like an inch from socking this lady in her dome. I let her know I knew what I ordered. 5) My friend asks for a glass of milk...they don't have any milk that's not spoiled waitress says (!!??) She then orders juice then (for her daughter) and it took literally 45 minutes to get that I was really disappointed in this joint. I had folks visiting me from out of town and I wanted to show them a good time...and we were all totally disappointed -by the way, i've been here 3 times now and service has ALWAYS super sucked.
by Rupert Dorazio on One of my favorite spots to hang out, have a beer and eat some delicious Irish Pub food! Something I just happened upon years ago, this has become one of my most favorite spots to eat (at any time of day) and hang with friends. There are usually a lot of cute men walking around with accents - especially if the is soccer on TV. They recently had to move due to the rennovation of Buckhead, so I haven't yet been to the new location. But thank goodness they are still around as life without Fado is no life at all! An extensive drink menu from beers to whiskys (both Scotch and Irish) and even some wine selections, gives you the opportunity to partake before and during your meal - or without eating at all. As for the food, I have some favorites I must recommend. To start, try the boxtys with the cheese dip or the Guinness BBQ wings. Next, you have a wide variety of choices for Irish Pub food - Shepherd's Pie, Corned Beef and Cabbage, Fish & Chips or Bangers & Mash - personally I am hooked on their Shepherd's Pie and their Chicken Pot Pie. If you can possibly have any room left (very unlikely between the beer and the food), you have to try the Brown Bread Ice Cream or the Black & Tan Brownie with Guinness Ice Cream. Both amazing desserts carrying on the theme of the place and both well worth saving a little space to split one with your friends. Personally, I need to figure out their recipes for the ice creams!
