by Katie M. on My review is to warn anyone making table reservations at Ruby Skye. I called and spoke with Marina. First of all, after I spoke to her she said she would send me a confirmation email - it never came. So, I called her back and she didn't remember me and couldn't find my information. Thank god I called back! She had told me that a table for NYE included a bottle of alcohol, a bottle of Champagne, and the tickets included open bar for the night. She also told me that my table sat 6 people. WELL, we get there and they bring us to an area with TWO chairs! I spoke to the manager (who couldn't have been less accommodating) and it took them an hour to move us. Then, I find out that there is no open bar (which was posted on their web site as well) and that the table does not include a bottle of champagne. Since I had already relayed what Marina had told me to my party, I had to pay extra for a bottle of champagne. If anything like this happens to you, just tell your credit card company that you are not paying for it and they will dispute the charges for you. Little bit of paper work but worth it for sure!
by Beulah Gilding on Buddha Bar is your typical posh night spot in Meat Packing District. If you go out a lot you will be adequately satisfied with the general atmosphere and the decor. Buddha Bar is a good starting place to get some cocktails, hang out a little with friends and people watch before you launch into the full debauchery mode at neighborhood clubs.
by laura b. on have you even been on a date but you didn't know it was a date you just thought you were hanging out with a friend and then they try to stick their tongue down your throat at the end of your WE ARE ONLY FRIENDS conversation? well, i went on a date like that here once with a "friend" of mine. we saw calexico...it was an amazing show and bimbo's was the perfect environment for it...all mermaid like and under the sea feeling. (an aside: it wasn't a sit down show and there was a no drink minimum but i can imagine that would put a damper on the evening.) the crowd was super into it because that's how calexico fans are (also, they have lots of sex. seriously, if you meet a hardcore calexico fan, know that that person is getting laid on the regular and probably with many different partners. i've conducted a very scientific survey. my control group is these three fools i know but i'm telling you...these people are sex-havers. multi-orgasmic too. and they really like bananas. i am totally talking out of my ass over here.) anyway, i was all spinny and happy from calexico's musical stylings and dancing with strangers in the crowd and like making out with the speakers and all that jazz. GREAT performance, wonderful evening, the bartenders weren't bitchy about giving me water and i had a fantastic time. the only low light of the night was when MY SO CALLED FRIEND tried to kiss me in front of my apartment after i told him that our shared relationship would be both starting and ending at friendship (and not even a particularly close friendship...more like friendship lite. i am a rotten bitch.) but that has nothing to do with bimbo's so i'm not gonna hold it against them. BIMBO'S RULES! both sluts and the club!
