Mayes- Where white people come to dance. True story! Definitely a mix of Polk st. & Marina crowd. The music was pretty good; some Rihanna, Usher with a mix of old school Blackstreet and MJ. This place gets really crowded after 11:30, which is when the cover begins- $5 on a Saturday night. Expect to get really hot & sweaty if you plan on dancing- small dance floor, lots of party people & no ventilation.

I paid homage to this iconic bbq institution the second night I was in Austin TX. The ribs are great and the whole atmosphere was just as I expected. The funny thing was that I followed my GPS, overshot and ended up at their banquet location instead. I could have just blended in the crowd and got a free meal but that was against my mantra. Finally got to the restaurant proper and had a great time. The only thing was that I thought the bbq sauce which was suppose to be their piece de resistance was a tad too sweet. I would have liked to have seen a little more body but all in all worth the 45 min drive out to Driftwood. PS if you re going for dinner, make sure you have a good pair of sunglasses for the drive out. You are going west and it is crazy glary on many stretches of that road.

As with any night club, your level of fun really is all about the company you are with.  We headed over here on a Saturday night around midnight and after being carded walked right in. There was no line.  Crowd was young, not very mixed.  Music was a mix of everything from house to hip hop.  What I liked about Nikki is the decor.  It had plenty of comfortable seats and it had a very loungy feel to it.  Drinks, of course as with any club are overpriced but made well.  I was also really happy that we found a place to sit and were able to dance in the same area. It's a small place but I enjoyed my time there. I'd go again when I don't feel like venturing too far from home.
