by Danelle Tragesser on After the failure that was Grape, I was thrilled when construction began on Pure. It's never fun to see empty retail space in your neighborhood. Needless to say, I visited Pure pretty immediately once it opened and unfortunately, wasn't hugely impressed. The margaritas are good (read: strong) - though I ordered the prickly pear on my first visit and thought it a bit sweet. I've since switched up the order and have never left unhappy or without being at least a bit tipsy. The food is adequate. Nothing to rave about. The chips were mediocre, the salsa a bit watery, the tortillas too thick. Blah, blah, blah... The meats that I have tried in the tacos were tender and well-prepared (I have had the pork and the beef brisket). On another visit, I ordered the chicken quesadilla and was rather surprised (unpleasantly so) when it arrived deep fried. The dish tasted fine, but it was definitely not what I was expecting and the menu gave no indication as to the unique preparation. While Pure isn't my favorite place, I still stop in from time to time to enjoy the adorable décor, good service and tasty beverages. However, it's not at the top of my list when it comes to choosing a restaurant for dinner. That said, the place is always packed, which I'm happy to see. Nothing better than a fun and successful restaurant in the neighborhood to make this girl one happy Inman Park-dweller.
by Bobby G. on Ok hit this place a few weeks back on I think a tues or wed night and it wasnt crowded at all which i liked! I didnt eat there so i cant say how the food is but the crowd was ok for what was there. One problem was the drinks!! Though they were made just fine, they were waaaay to expensive! As i stepped outside for a moment to get some air I was harassed by two unfortunate men who asked me for money. One just asked the other one did a rap for me, which i found original so he got a few bucks! Anyway I love the area and bar was OK...I would like to see what its like on a busier night and would love to have dinner there once to rate the food. All in all not a bad place to have a few drinks if your wallet can handle it!
