by Florene Gostlin on I spent my 2007 New Year's Eve here and as a former server in the restaurant industry, I can understand the craziness of a particularly crazy holiday such as NYE, but the service here was deplorable. I paid $200 for my ticket and was told hot appetizers and premium vodka would be served by an attentive server. First off, we waited in the VIP line which was actually far longer than the regular line and when we did get in, we were given a bed at the most traffic-filled spot in the club, next to the bathroom and a constantly overstuffed doorway filled with humans leading into a small bar. We waited about 20 minutes at our bed which was constantly being stepped on by passersby in huge, wet dirty shoes mucking up the white sheets Finally someone in our party braved the crowd to look for our server. After 15 more minutes, an irritated looking woman came over and stated that she could not serve us until she was tipped out $140, once said payment was received, she could bring us our appetizers and drinks, which we could actually have gotten ourselves at the bar since it was open bar all night. We doled out the cash however and after another 20 minutes, our ever "attentive" server brought us a sparse tray of cold, poorly cut sandwiches, a bottle of vodka and a pitcher of orange juice and cola. Splendid...I was already onto my second drink retrieved from the packed bar at this point. I don't remember much of the music or atmosphere, just the really crappy service. After 45 minutes, we happened to see our server pass by and flagged her down for another vodka and mixers. She told us again that before she could bring us anything, we needed to shell out another $140. I was indignant at this point and did not want to pay but everyone mechanically pulled out their wallets again to appease our greedy server. I bregrudgingly did so as well, then headed to the bar once more for slightly faster service ( faster meaning snail's pace). Duvet gets a one-up on watching the ball drop in Times Square but only because you're inside here, and it beats freezing your knickers off outside on December 31st. The best part of the evening was leaving. Happy New Year, indeed...
by Layla G. on you can dive in the tank !!!! reasonably priced considering that you would have to travel to 5 different parts of the world to see all the variety of species in this one tank!!! its a once in a life time experience!!! need i say more??? ;)
by Alice C. on I used to come here on Thursdays for Jamaican Live (reggae club). Place is spacious with a big stage for performances and/or dancers. There are two big rooms, enough bathroom locations, and nice smoking patio (especially for the potheads) with a bar outside. In my opinion, its usually filled with lonely, horny, pervs waiting to get/attempt to get ass. You really have to be careful to who you're talking to. It's a great place to hang out with friends and dance if you like reggae and dancehall. There's is usually an older man by the name of Richard, that will hit on any human-figure resembling a female ... he has long dreads ... beware of him. He's creepy and touchy and says weird things like, "Oh, your name is Alice? Let me take you to wonderland ... can I get your communication (number)?" - (in Jamaican accent). Drinks are not that expensive ... still expensive compared to what you can spend on alcohol yourself, outside of the club. Decent prices and you can talk to the bartenders to hook u up with a little here and there ... Not the cleanest place ... but you can't tell because it gets real dark. Beware, it gets grossly sexual in there ... I just stand next to the bar and stare with a (0_o) face ... creeps me out. No, I don't participate. 4 stars because it's a really great place for potheads to freely smoke ... dance ... drink ... smoke some more ... all with FRIENDS.
