What an amazing time we had at Eastside Showroom last night. It has a moulin rouge-y atmosphere with lots of small details that give it a truly original feel. Silent movies playing on a large screen complete the look that mixes parisian cafe and east-side Austin bar. Ok, enough about the atmosphere - atmosphere will only take you so far. This place has fantastic food! and drinks! and service! charcuterie platter - excellent! decadent and flavorful the pickled veggies making a perfect contrast to the smooth, creamy meat stuff. summer salad - simple, but perfect Lamb and goat burger - oh my god. juicy and fabulous with the perfect hint of rosemary gulf shrimp and grits - perfectly cooked shrimp, creamy grits - I couldn't have asked for more The only reason this place isn't getting 5 stars is because the desserts fell a little flat. There was a chocolate creme brulee that wasn't completely set and a tiramisu with a beautiful presentation, but not amazing flavor. Still, they've only been open 3 days, so I'm sure the desserts will come around. The service was amazing. The chef came out and talked to us about the entrees and things they have planned for the future. She answered our questions about different preparations and was just super nice. Ok, now let's talk drinks. Really exciting. We had cocktails with our appetizer, whiskey and house-made cola with our salad and wine with our entrees - the waitress let us sample several different ones until we found exactly what we were looking for. The cocktails are all interesting and exotic - our favorite was the old man and the sea. to sum up - eastside showroom = awesome. but don't lets go all at once. Its a small place and I want to have a table when I go back.

4 stars for the bar.  This is a super cool steak house, located strategically above the ever popular (and restrictive) Tenjune.  We stopped by for drinks after dinner nearby and were delighted by a hip environment, stylishly decorated and full of gorgeous clientele. And if its good enough for Serena and Dan, it's good enough for me.   Oddly, at 6 feet tall, I felt I was one of the tallest people there, which was peculiar but nevertheless fun for me.  The dinner scene seemed a bit of a shitshow, as the booths crammed throughout were literally overflowing with their drunken patrons, and it seemed everyone was shouting to be heard.  Still, for drinks the place did a great job, as the bartenders were plentiful and friendly, and there was fun music to bob your head to. I will return for a meal, but only with a lot of patience and a good mood.

Great, underground type club next to South City Kitchen.  We got there early, so it was kind of empty but even later, it felt like people were more people watching than dancing.  Not really a fan of being watched/admired/mocked, but I was with good friends so I had a good time nonetheless.
