The song list is so up to date, I forget that I'm at a karaoke bar and not in my car listening to the radio! Tonight, I sang Justin Bieber songs, Beyonce/Lady Gaga songs, One Republic (new songs), new songs that are on the radio that I don't even know the names of yet, because they are too new. La Rouche. So awesome! The touch screens are so modern. No more big binders of music and punching in codes on Korean remote controls!!!! :) Legit. 2 legit 2 quit! Next time, I'm going to give the dart board a try and try to get a pic on the Crown Royal throne in the Crown room. By the way, you don't have to sing in the dark any more, people. You can sing in a green lit Heineken room or the garden room or the Blue moon room. Genius. So genius. I think my standards for Karaoke have now been reset. I'm obviously still reeling at how awesome this place is. Now, just GO! :)
by Florencio Whitmore on Hands down, Johnny Brenda's is the best music venue in Philadelphia. I've just moved to Philadelphia, but have lived in PA all my life, and have seen at least 50 concerts here. There's not a bad seat in the house, excepting the small walkway between stage-left and the bar. Sure, the upstairs area can get a bit warm on a crowded night, but that's true of any small venue, and JB's keeps it a lot more comfortable than many venues I've attended- AHEM, First Unitarian basement. There is a bar right next to the stage that always has a good selection of beers. I wouldn't necessarily call the beer selection fantastic, but unless you are a big beer snob, you'll find something to love. I can't speak for the women's room, but regarding the men's restroom, I'm almost always pleased with the cleanliness, especially when considering many of the venues I've attended. A number of the shows at Johnny Brenda's tend to be a bit "hip", but I don't mean that in a negative way. If you are a fan of the type of music that R5 (best music promotion group in Philly imo) generally promotes, one look at Johnny Brenda's calendar and you'll be pleased to see that many of the bands you love, or have at least heard of, make a stop at this venue. Better yet, I've never been to a show that cost more than $15, with most being $10. If you're ever interested in seeing a show here, give me a shout. I'm always up for another night at Johnny Brenda's.
