After my last attempt at a Webster Hall show, my friend said to me, "I would not return to Webster Hall even if all four Beatles were reuniting for a show here and I had free tickets." I probably would, for that, but I probably wouldn't enjoy it, somehow. Webster Hall is a hellhole that somehow manages to put your favorite bands up on the stage and suck all the joy you might have right out of seeing them. The alcohol is roughly twice as expensive as it should be, the crowd somehow has the joy drained out of them upon entry, and an evening that might be magical at, say, Bowery Ballroom or the Music Hall of Williamsburg somehow turns into an ordeal to be endured. I have seen roughly a dozen shows at Webster Hall, and after each one I keep saying "That's it, no more." And yet I keep going back, because about the only person doing anything right at this place is whatever genius they have booking the shows. Never again.

I love bowling and this is a really fun place to do that in the Big City.  I really like the glow-in-the-dark pins a lot:):)

I must say I'm shocked at how many weak reviews the Golden Temple has gotten on here. This is far and away the best Chinese food I've ever had, anywhere. It's not even in the same league as your run-of-the-mill chinese restaurant. I found that most chinese restaurants have a touch of sketchiness about their food. Whether it's a funny smell, or if it simply tastes like it was cooked hours before it reached my plate, most places seem to have it. Not the Golden Temple. The food is fresh and delicious. Always. The beef teriyaki is fantastic - very tender and not all chewy like most other places. The fried rice is amazing. The menu is huge, and includes some options from other Asian cuisine. I've had the Pad Thai a couple of time and found it to be better than most. Even the fortune cookies are better than usual - coming in different flavors, such as chocolate and strawberry. And I like the atmosphere a lot. The best chinese food does come at a price- The Golden Temple is not cheap. But it is worth it. The Golden Temple is to other chinese restaurants as The Capital Grill is to Friendly's.
