I keep going back & forth between 3 & 4 stars on this one, but the noise level & mediocre food in the upstairs restaurant section make me lean towards 3. I haven't ordered anything in the restaurant that has blown me away or come anywhere close, except maybe the BBQ Shrimp appetizer, but for $19, it darn better be delicious! That said, the heads of the shrimp were still attached to the body, so I had to cut them off before ingesting, making this dish less than appetizing by the end when you see numerous shrimp heads floating in a bbq sauce. Now that THAT is behind us, let's move on to the FABULOUS downstairs market section of the building. Everything about this area is french provencial & oh so charming. Shabby chic & rustic simultaneously, the market delivers on ambiance & pastries. The apricot scone & the almond croissant are well worth the effort of stopping by in the am for a morning pick-me-up. The homemade ice cream tastes creamy & sinful, but it should for about $9 a pint. Still, this market should be visited any time of the year for their precious knick-knacks or for the coffee & pastries... besides the gorgeous decor, these are the standouts here. Whoever renovated this entire building should be given an award... it is all around breathtaking. I love the exposed brick with the hardwood floors & ceiling chandeliers... the simple apple centerpiece on the tables adds to the country charm as well. I really want to LOVE the food here because I love the idea of Parish. I know I'll be back, but I'm in no hurry for the sit-down restaurant. However, I think a chocolate bear claw may be calling my name.

Great place to go in the city if you don't feel like going all out for clubbing, but want more than just your average neighborhood bar. Decent music, fun drinks (mojitos & Goose lemonades), and reasonably priced!

let me say first that i dont know if my experience at buddha bar is typical - i was there with a large group, and we sat off to the side at a large circular table.  this table was very difficult to sit down at in a skirt without flashing the whole table, by the way, since it was set down into the floor.  i didnt feel that we got as much of a feeling for the atmosphere and what it would be like on a regular night.  our food was good - we had the spring rolls, spareribs, and shrimp to start.  i was more impressed with the entrees - even though this is an asian fusion restaurant, they had a good variety of dishes.  we had seabass, chicken, steak, as well as fried rice and a vegetable curry.  they were very good, and it was plenty of food.  for dessert, we shared the creme brulee, a chocolate cake, and 2 other desserts.  they were just okay i thought.  i will say that the cocktail i had at the start was delicious - it was blueberry and pomegranate with vodka... yum!!
