Ok, so my rating might seem harsh, but I will list the pro's and the con's. Pros: Really good music, the DJ def knows what he's doing. Drink prices are reasonable, and it's got a good vibe. Cons: The guys that were there were TERRIBLE. Totally ruined the experience. They seemed to have the mentality that when I tell you, no thank you I don't want to dance with you, that you just don't know what you want, and force themselves all over you anyway. And it didn't just happen with one guy a few times, it happened with a bunch of guys all night, not fun. It was also really, really crowded. So that was my first time there and probably my last. Yes, I understand it's a dance club- but if I don't want to dance with someone they should respect that and find someone else to dance with. I was there with a big group of people and had I not had them to retreat to I would have just left.

Although there were a number of things I can criticize about this place, I am physically unable to give XIV less than 4 stars because of the quality, variety & artistry of the foods that come as part of the gamut. If you want to see the negatives, scroll past Me waxing poetic about the gamut.Seriously though, logically & economically & from any other perspective, the only thing it makes sense to order here is the gamut. If you can afford it, you can have one by yourself, which costs $250, & includes tiny portions of all 35 'tapas' items on the menu.Or if money is more of any issue, then they allow you to split one gamut, but then you obviously won't be as satiated & a bit hungry :) I could write a love letter to each one of the items on the menu, but really, I can describe them all by saying that it is a feast for the senses.Every single item is more beautiful & more delicious than the next.Every item is a masterpiece. There are no slabs of meat or fish or anything else just thrown on a plate.Oh, no, not here! This is food couture. If I could afford it, I would probably have a gamut once a week & not get tired of it!Every item is also very high quality & composed of various interesting ingredients.Honestly, I cannot imagine someone being dissatisfied when ordering the gamut. This is about as close to what I imagine a meal in heaven would be like.Except in heaven, there would be even more courses, of course, & no limits on amounts, & everything would be free, & I would be married to Edward Cullen ('Twilight'), & he would be feeding Me each course, & he would look like Chace Crawford & he would...oops, I digress (*blush*)...back to the review...This is the closest to heaven I have experienced in recent times. If this review was based on the gamut only, I would give it 5++ stars & sing these lyrics: 'Heaven, I'm in heaven And My heart beats so that I can hardly speak And I seem to find the happiness I seek When we're out...' eating gamut at XIV!! :) Each item is $8 per person, some items with an additional $ supplement. Or 'A Light Meal' 8 courses $55 'Something More' 11 courses $75 'Fourteen from XIV' 14 courses $95 & *drumroll, please* 'THE GAMUT' 35 courses $250 If you order anything other than the gamut, I just don't know about you, lol. Oh, and their bread is warm flatbread served with delicious yogurty yumminess. At most places, I don't even finish one bread basket, here I kept asking for more & more yogurty goodness & flatbread. The only negative was that they kept not bringing enough of it! :( Try it, you'll see it's Super yumm! ;) On to the NEGATIVES... Although we ordered the gamut & a bunch of bottles of mineral water & coffee & white tea ($7), when they accidentally brought over an extra dish of the blue cheese course, which is only $8, they took it away from us right away as soon as they realized, even though they knew I was interested in it!!Not cool!!$8??You take it back?Booo!! The other thing that is not cool is the communal style ordering if you order a la carte. As in, however many people are at your table, that is how many dishes of each item are going to come out at $8 each. So, if I want lamb & venison & black cod, you are going to also get them & pay for them.Say what? You want chicken & duck, yet I will also have to eat them & pay?Yup!!I would not be able to deal with this approach to dining!I say every diner should have a choice over what items they order & get. There should not need to be a poll & a consensus meeting over ordering a meal. That is just sillious! So, like I said, do yourself a favor & get the gamut & experience 'heaven' for yourself! ;) I would imagine the menu changes, but here are the 35 items that were on the menu when I went (I didn't take pics, because I got embarrassed, so, I only took a couple of pics of the restroom, where I was alone, lol...but next time I go, I will totally take a pic of every course!!). In the interest of saving space in this review, I am only including the 'main' item of each dish. A. Shellfish: 1. Nantucket Bay Scallops Tempura 2. Chilled Maine Lobster 3. Dungeness Crab Crepe 4. Salt & Pepper Big Fin Squid 5. Ice Cold Shellfish B. Garden Vegetables: 6. Thai Coconut Soup 7. Baby Frisee & Gem Lettuce 8. Golden Beet Salad 9. Porcini Risotto 10. Pumpkin Dumplings C. Fish: 11. Michael's Caviar Parfait ($MP Supplement) 12. Hamachi Sashimi 13. Ahi Tuna Tartare 14. Black Cod 15. Ocean Trout D. Poultry & Light Meats: 16. Artisan Charcuterie 17. Foie Gras Terrine 18. Jidori Chicken 19. Liberty Duck 20. Crispy Pork Belly E. Meat & Game: 21. Beef Carpaccio 22. Angus Rib Cap or Japanese A5 Kobe ($25 supplement) 23. California Lamb 24. Roasted Venison 25. Worcestershire-Braised Short Rib F. Cheese: 26. Aged Mimolette 27. Chaource 28. Idiazabal 29. Monte Enebro 30. Bleu Du Bocage G. Sugar, Chocolate & Fruit: 31. White Chocolate Cube 32.
