by Werner Soja on You'd never guess it from the outside, but Vegan Village has some great food and service. I love VV and highly recommend it to anyone looking for vegan/vegetarian food that's plentiful and decadent. It's soul food- it should be satisfying and not "healthy", but yet there are still some healthful touches (brown rice, "the village green" chlorophyll drink, organic ingredients). The most important thing though is that the food is delicious. I'm happy to pay a little bit more to eat there, as it seems as though it is independently operated by people trying to make a living, just like you and me. Totally recommended. Fans of the Soul Veg East group of restaurants will enjoy this as well. Hope to be back soon!
by Katie H. on Once in a blue moon a girl needs to go out dancing at a mega club, yes? Can't always be jetting off to Vegas, so Temple is a reasonable facsimile. Paying $20 cover for Friday night Remedy was annoying- even I, the queen of cover scamming, couldn't scam this place. Anyway the club wasn't very crowded, except the hip hop room, which was in a word, scary - it also looks and feels like it might have a drain in the middle of the floor or something. And while I appreciate this idea abstractly, as well as the need for easy clean up in night clubs, it's not really a good atmosphere for decor, yes? So, I exited the scary hip hop/ drain room and decided to stick to upstairs for the rest of the night. Later, when Dimitrios Mykonos came on the place started getting a little crazy. I was highly entertained by this super intense little Grecian DJ man and his minion playing the bongos adjacent to the DJ stand. Oh, also I found out they don't mind if you make out with dudes you just met at VIP tables no one is using... NOT THAT I DID THAT, no, it was my "friend"...
