"WHAT'LL YA HAVE, WHAT'LL YA HAVE, WHAT'LL YA HAAAAVE!!!" ....that is what you will hear from all 20 gazillion employees when you step in the door of The Varsity.  This place is the ULTIMATE ghetto 50's diner.  Hence, delicious.  Their specialty is the chili slaw dog.  If that sounds odd to you, then you MUST order it.  Onion rings are a necessity.  The frosted orange drink is truly frosted, and orange, and super sweet if you are into that.  They've got car-hop service too if you're too lazy to walk into the joint.  We decided to eat in the glass dome tunnel portion of the restaurant that extends out to their 2nd level parking.  So yeah, there's plenty of parking.  I wish they had these in Cali.....

What a fun, relaxing place to get beers and fries with friends!  It was great not to be in a loud bar and instead on a boat with the moon's reflection shimmering off the water.  I didn't get any food, but picked off some of my friend's fries which were awesome as they were sprinkled with a Cajun powder!  Only down side is that you have to take a cab since it is no where near a subway.

If i could give this place a lower rating i would. Honestly this is the worst place I've been to in my life. Never was racism so apparent. And I never think when people are rude its because they are racist. I'm the last person to think that other think that way because its so foreign to me. My girls and I wanted a girls night out. After getting a few recommendations from other people we ended up at Hwood. Even though we were three girls I knew it was the new hot spot so I didn't have any expectations of getting in, but i wasn't expecting this. we got to Hwood at 11:30 and there was no line. some guys come up to us to go in with them so that they would have a better chance of getting in due to the guy to girl ratio. When they went to the bouncer, he straight told him that he would let them in but not us. 4 girls and two guy's dice...but  2 white guys with a girl ...come right in. There were two Asian girls standing in front of us and they were smoking, and they still couldn't get in. But a group of white girls come and got in right away. mind you they told the guy that they weren't on the guess list and didn't know any of the promoters. They weren't even dressed properly. After standing there and watching this shit for 20 minutes, we got into a fight with the bouncers. We asked if tonight was guest list only or white list. to which the guys said yes.... it is white list. I don't know from my experience most bouncers get mad if you say something like that to them. In this case they all just laughed and snickered about it. As we walked away the girl with the almighty clip board made the ultimate comment... " we don't need any nachos anyways....' Not only did she prove that she was a racist bitch but she's  damn stupid as well. I'm not Hispanic, nor do I look it, not even close. And calling someone a food is not insulting to me...but shows that you are so dumb. I mean what the hell is that. I never even heard that before. I understand, its the hottest club and you have to dress the part but I can't change my skin color. At other hot spot clubs the bouncers will ignore you if they don't want you to come in. Whatever their reason...its the job or the place that asks for racial profiling but these people at Hwood are just flat out racist people. I don't even think they know that we have a BLACK President.
