by Nikk T. on This is not your run of the mill steakhouse. If you're looking to have a fun night out and enjoy a good meal, this is the place. I have been here twice, food was great, decor is beautiful, music is awesome and you will see people dancing next to their tables which is always fun. If you are looking to indulge in some good conversation- this is not the place for you, the music is way too loud. If you are looking to be seated at the time you made your reservations for- go elsewhere, plan on hanging out by the bar for at least 35 minutes to an hour. 2 suggestions: dress up and when walking up the stairs to the bathroom, hold your dress or skirt or you'll moon everyone.
by Carina Tempe on More like 3.5 stars. The only thing that I would ding Yoshi's is for the lack of open seating. Our party of 4 wandered upstairs and down looking for non-reserved seats. None existed and the staff seemed clueless. Finally, they got their act together and pulled chairs out for several people who were in the same predicament. Fortunately, we got front row seats to Adam Theis's Brass Bows and Beats hip hop symphony which I strongly encourage you to check out!! It is an intimate venue so the sound was incredible. Check out the bar after the show. There's an upstairs bar as well with a DJ. Definitely a great spot for drinks and a show.
by Signe Nagler on Unfrickin' believable! We of course came here because who wouldn't want to eat at Iron Chef Morimoto's restaurant if you've got one night in Philly. And thankfully, it lived up to all the hype. Fabulous food, great service and very sexy atmosphere! Who knew Philly was so cool??? We ordered the Omakase- the $120 one because we needed Otoro desperately and it didn't come on the cheaper versions- and we went with the mid-range on the pairings. Fantastic! The fish was so fresh and the presentation spectacular- it was truly a delight! And imagine our surprise when a glass of brut rose was put down in front of us AFTER we had our kobe beef course- whatever could the next course be??? It was an entire half a grilled lobster with Chinese Five Spice! Oh so good!!! But one cannot review this restaurant without commenting on the decor- this place is so hip it's crazy, I tell you! The lighting changes color all the time. One minute the dining room is blue and the next, you look up from your so-fresh-it's-still-swimming sushi and it's green! Or Purple! Or Orange! Very cool. Can't wait to get to Morimoto here...
