Very cool spot. No pretentiousness just cool people enjoying the good music this place offers. They have 2 rooms and they both keep the party going. Great mix of people. The drinks are strong and tasty and you never wait too long for your drinks. We celebrated my best friends birthday at this location on Halloween and it was so much fun and Yolanda (EVENT COORDINATOR) was so helpful and attentive. I've been here on Thursdays and Sundays as well and I have not been disappointed. The only thing that I can complain about is that it gets crazy full at times but other than that this is the spot.

My friend and I decided to try the Velvet Room this past Sunday night. Ladies Free All Night! We arrived at the club around 10:30 and parked near the front. We figured that we were early since the line was not that long. We waited to get into the club for an hour and a half...that's right, we did not get in until midnight. It was utterly ridiculous. Security was letting entrants in one at a time as to ensure that they did not exceed fire code. ( By the way, same sex security will frisk you before letting you enter the club. And when I say frisk, she stuck her fingers under the underwire of my bra and then decided to ask me was I trying to hide anything in there. Evidently NOT!) Inside, the club was lavish, huge, ...and empty! It did not get even close to being crowded until well after one o'clock. I stood by the bar all night and watched the drunken antics of the crowd. I thought that because this club was "grown and sexy", the crowd would live up to my expectations. But I was soon confronted with the reality that grown and sexy did not describe the caliber of people, but their attire. (They dressed "grown and sexy", but refused to act like it.) What particularly disturbed me about the Velvet Room is that they don't allow you to bring cameras into the club. Yet, they have photographers that will take your picture and also print them on a portable digital printer for a fee. Additionally, if you perhaps make a love connection, there is also a flower guy who walks around selling roses. Lastly, several hispanic men in white button down shirts were scattered around the club with brooms and dust pans waiting for debris to touch the dance floor so that they could swarm in and save the day. The Velvet Room is a difficult place to meet people...esp quality individuals. But ladies, if you are bored on a Sunday night, grab some girlfriends and a few drinks and throw your cares to the wind.

As I continue my quest for new restaurants on my company account (we have summer interns), I decided to give this one a shot.  Let me begin by saying they are big on the "sharing" concept.  When we got there, the waitress told us that it was a sharing menu and we did not get it because the items did not sound like tapas.  It's kinda like a tapas place but not really.  Their concept is that they bring the food out slowly so that all of the food does not come out at once and everyone at the table can enjoy your appetizer.  However, if you don't want to share it or someone else did not order an appetizer, you are SOL.  So, just be prepared for this experience whether you want it or not.  As the waitress said, "we are big on the sharing concept."  I think that meant take it or leave it. They do bring wash clothes to wash your hands at the start of the meal.  I love that at restaurants.  Here is my bitchy side.  If you are going to bring wash towels to wash your hands before the meal, they should be hot or at least warm.  These were cold. Anyway, enough about that.  We were there for lunch.  We had the lobster roll to start out with.  The lobster was a little dry and the filling was dry as well.  The sauce was excellent and spicy.  I am not a huge mayo fan so I did not have much of the sauce. The dip they bring to start the meal is awesome.  It is a tomato something or other dip with fried crispy flat bread.  Very good. We then had a avocado and radish salad with a ginger dressing and onion rings.  Maybe the onion rings would have pushed it over the edge taste wise.  The dressing was fabulous but the avocado was just halved.  But, I will give the dressing huge props. For my entree I had the strip steak.  The steak was cooked to perfection (medium).  The greens were perfect.  The pesto sauce was flavorless.  It did nothing to heighten the dish or make it more interesting.  If anything, it made it a bit greener. Overall, I would give it a second shot to try some of the other dishes.  The person I was with had the cod and loved it.  It's getting 3 starts because it was not horrible but it was not amazing.  We shall see on a second visit.
