Alright alright.  H.Wood is one those sucky on the outside, cool in the inside type of clubs. By sucky on the inside I'm referring to the ridiculous hold up before 10pm.  If you don't get here before 10, DON'T BOTHER COMING because you won't get in.  I assure you.  Even if you're on the guest list for a friend's birthday you won't get in.  They'll make you wait for an hour only to tell you that you won't get in instead of telling you right away. By cool on the inside I'm referring to when you actually get in.  I like the decor and ambiance.  I was feelin' the brick walls and the antique lookin'' leather couches.  Drinks are damn expensive, but at least the bartenders are nice.  The DJ played your typical mainstream top 40 music.  There were definitely some good looking girls inside, so I can kinda see why they'd be so selective with who they let in.  If you're not lookin' fly turn yo ass around and say goodbye because peeps definitely dress to impress in here.  We we went we ran into Chuck Liddell from UFC which was totally rad. Overall a fun time when you actually get inside.  3.5 of 5 stars.

I'm NOT a fan of the Tao in Vegas, so I didn't have high expectations of the one in NYC. Tao is one of those places where you come only for the upscale ambiance and to come and be seen. Don't get me wrong, I love the trendy upscale restaurant/lounges, but the food has to be at least somewhat decent. Tao definitely misses the mark on the food aspect... FOOD: *Duck Spring Rolls: Ehhh, not good. The roll was very dry. Instead of having duck in it, it had taro. I love taro, but this is not what we ordered. And, what's up with the straight out-of-the-bottle sweet chili sauce? It did NOT go well with the "taro" rolls. *Scallion Beef: It was just ok; nothing special. It was cubes of beef with onion, bell peppers, and scallion. It was quite salty, so you had to eat plenty of rice to drown out the salt. *Banana Bread Pudding: OMG! This dessert totally redeemed our experience at TAO. It was more a trifle than anything--layers of banana pudding layered sponge cake and topped whip cream/chocolate shavings. The banana pudding tasted like fresh, ripen bananas whipped into rich yumminess. The sponge cake was similar to the kind in chinese cakes: very light and airy. One of my friends had the kobe burger which he said was dry and flavorless. My other friend had the salmon which she barely even touched so I guess it was that bad! SERVICE: Staff was pretentious. We had to flag down our waiter several times to get more water. I had to ask 2 times for my chili sauce. Keep in mind, it was NOT even busy; less than 30% of the restaurant was filled. AMBIANCE: The restaurant was BEAUTIFUL (hence the 3 stars). Like I said this is a place you come for the ambiance only. I loved the red/gold decor, the high ceilings with chinese characters, red brick walls, and the Quan-Yin statue (it's NOT a Buddha statue) with the koi fish pond. With that being said, it's a good place to hang out for drinks, but NOT to eat. The food is like a glorified Panda Express or PF Changs = NOT AUTHENTIC!

Marquee Marquee Marquee... perhaps one of the most talked about clubs in New York. Every Friday and Saturday night when you pass by 10th Ave. you'll see a hoard of people on the sidewalks, and they're either in line for Marquee, or have left and are ready to jump into one of the dozen yellow cabs on the street. If I had known what it was all about inside, I would've skipped it. But my friends had brought me here, and we were able to skip the line because our friend inside came out to bring us in. We each paid $20 to get in (rip off!). Inside there are 2 floors. The first floor is house music, with blue lighting and somewhat futuristic decor. House music here is the only redemption for the place. Upstairs is hiphop music and quite dark. This place is filled with girls - just girls, girls, girls everywhere. For you guys you may want to drop a visit, but I'll definitely skip next time around. I just don't get the hype over this place. Not worth it.
