My cousins are in town this week and they wanted to check out the club scene in NY. Since I had a VIP ticket to this place we decided to go there. We showed up last Saturday night around 2am and had no trouble getting in with the three of us even though the ticket was valid for two. Good start. Once inside we headed for the coat check. This was $4 a piece and not included in admission. It was kinda embarrassing that the girl at the coat check charged my cousin another $4 for her very tiny cardi that was inside her jacket and hung them on the same hanger. Bad move. We decided to get drinks. Even though the prices where probably what you pay at like minded places I think paying $50 for 3 drinks that are merely mediocre is just crazy. I'm normally not a big club person because I somehow never feel cool enough, but that was absolutely not the issue here. Half the people where totally pretentious and the other half was completely desperate. And they where all humping on each other. It was actually very funny for a while to see all the mating dances around us. The music was good except for the fact that they changed tunes every 30 secs. We left after about an hour and I'll definitely not be coming back. It's just not worth the money and it was more of a malicious pleasure watching all those people then actual fun.

3 reviews in one!! Restaurant Very nice ambiance.  Go with the Theatre Menu if you want to try a few different things and not spend an arm and a leg.  We're talkin $30 for Appetizer, entree and dessert.  Have them make some fresh Guacamole at the table for you.  It is worth it...and I don't even like Avacados.  I enjoyed the coconut Flan and the fried Ice cream was not traditional Fried Ice cream (instead of the flash fry, it was rolled in Cinnamon Toast Crunch to give the same effect).  The Mojitos with the sugar cane stir are tasty.  Get your fav flavor...they have a variety.  Its not the best Mexican food you've ever had but it is worth a recommendation. Lizard Lounge AKA downstairs No cover. No hats. No sneakers.  The B.I.G. era is alive and kickin down here.  If you want to be in a hip hop video dance scene, you're in the right place.  1/2 ghetto, 1/4 after work undercover freaks and 1/4 princess/prince posers.  Which one are you?  none of them?  Then why are you here??  This crowd is underground NY dance club all the way. I'm that guy buyin the rounds at the bar...and in the middle of the dance floor singin along with the song while dancing with a beautiful lady.....and smilin in the corner and pointin at the peps that think they can dance.  If you're here, you're doin the same. Club Iguana AKA upstairs $10 Cover. Dress to Impress.  Its a spanish club. If you ever been to the Copacabana, Latin Quarters or Les Poulets (remember that one?), then you won't get anything new here.  As with any Latin club, bring your dancin shoes and your "A" game because these ladies are unforgiving if you take them on the dance floor and CAN'T DANCE.  Its not very big so you WILL BE SEEN.  Music is modern and old school so order a drink and BAILA!!

I haven't been here since I was in elementary school.  So it was great to see the new digs and enjoy it in an all adult atmosphere.  You can't beat that it's only $10 - and it's something fun and different to do on a weeknight. Some tips: * come early (6PM) to score tickets to the Planetarium. Basically once you get in, head to the Planetarium - they hand out show passes for  630, 730 and 830 until they run out - which is pretty quick, I'm guessing they run out by 630ish! You can pick up extra tickets for your friends without any worries. * if you drink, have a couple of drinks before the Planetarium show, it's pretty fun to watch with a good buzz - BUT be sure to use the restroom before you get in there - it's only about a 30 minute show...but that can seem like forever if half way through, you realize you need to use the restroom! agh!  Leaving and coming back isn't really an option. The best seats are probably towards the top. * Food - they do have some food for sale, although of course it's pricey and not really worth the money - but good to have as an option if you really need something to help absorb the alcohol. If possible, don't go hungry!  If you manage to get there early, you can enjoy the CAS for a few hours then head over to 9th Ave for some grub at Park Gyros, Marnee Thai, Ebisu, lots of restaurants to choose from! * Cash - bring cash...as they only take cash for food and drinks. You can pay by credit card for your entry ticket. * lines - be prepared. There may be lines to get in, get your drinks, check your coat, etc. but they're really not THAT bad. Imagine what they're like with kids on a weekend! Bring a good attitude and some good company along with you...you'll have fun!
