by Chris L. on The only reason I come to the DNA Lounge is for Bootie on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Saturday of every month. I will tell you right away, I don't like it any other time. They are mostly an 80's club, so you'll end up finding a lot of people between 30 and 40. I don't mind it but its just not my scene. However, if you're looking for a fun time on a Saturday, go to Bootie. Mash-up's all night long, and the best live band ever, Smash Up Derby. I usually go just for Smash Up Derby. It's heart pumping, and just overall exciting. Note of caution for any homophobes, this is not an event to go to if you don't like drag, homosexuals, or anything of the sort. Even though there is a decent straight scene, I'd say about half or more of the people there are gay. Go to http://Bootiesf.comfor more info on their events. It's a great heads up to what they're doing the next Saturday. Price is $6 before 10pm, and $12 after.
by Elton Hallum on Living in Russian Hill, and being a huge fan of Nick's, I had high hopes for this place.... that were quickly shot down as soon as I arrived. Way too crowded. Scene was a little on the ghetto side for a bar in Russian Hill (and by a little I mean WAYYYYYYY ghetto). After getting body slammed all over the place from guys that were trying too hard to feel up drunk chicks, I made a quick exit and walked home. The best thing about Rouge is when its empty and it looks pretty during the day when you're enjoying a Nick's Burrito.
