Went here recently on account of a birthday; Carnival was chosen because they provided a comp'd guestlist for before-12 arrivals and a free bottle of champagne. On the way there, someone mentioned that Paris Hilton had something to do with the opening... kind of a bad omen, if you ask me. Walk up the stairs, and some fun-house mirrors and a revolving door will greet you. Inside, the 5th floor (or 6th? I lost count like everyone else) venue is spaaacious. Lots of room to accommodate the circus-tent ceiling, $4 carnival games, 2 pool tables, and tons of open space. The designers really did a pretty nice job of doing the place up, tho it was a little too sterile to do justice to a seedy carnival vibe. A big clown mouth forms the entrance to the side room, which serves as a dancefloor, judging by the loud music and yes, people dancing. I couldn't see where the DJ was, but it didn't matter. It was just an awful genre medly of the most overplayed pop tracks of the past few years. When we first entered the main room, there was some sort of fashion show going on. A weird thing. Busted models, H&M fashion, and cheap amateur photographers all kind of evoked something I might actually want to see. After the show was over, the main room was pretty awkward. There's so much space that you'd expect a dancefloor, except the music was real low and all you could do was just grab a drink and stand around. In fairness, it was not bad considering they didn't charge for entry. But it struck me as sort of a lot like Ms. Hilton, who I later found had hosted some opening party - plenty of style, and no substance.

Do you remember watching that great show back in the day?  You know the one I mean, Cheers!  Where everyone knows your name.  That and there is that great guy that you get to yell his name whenever he comes in the bar.  Well, that is the kind of feeling you get when you come out to Friday Night Swing!  People may not shout, "Nick!" when I come in the door, but I feel just as loved there as if it were my very own home, well except for the fact that I go home to sleep and one doesn't sleep at Friday night swing, one dances!  So come out and meet everyone, because we are very excited to meet you! (and dance with you too, we do a lot of that)  So if you are looking for a great night of fun and dancing, I highly recommend coming out and seeing for yourself what all the hub-bub is all about.
