by Kate T. on Speechless. Update: (I need to justify my rating for this place. It's actually a 3.5 stars.) Came here on my birthday week. It all started from here -- unexpectedly. How's so? It was a crazy day at work. Five different things all happened at once and I was on the verge of tears so I decided to spend it with my brother that evening.Unexpectedly, he remembered that my birthday was coming up and treated me to this sushi house along with his girlfriend. According to him, rateclubs reputation for this place was rather high. So, we decided to give this place a shot. I walked in keeping an open taste bud and a rather reserved expectation, not desiring anything too wonderous. Because, well, sometimes you just don't want to be disappointed. Thus, my review. As we sat down, utter famished, we ordered everything recommended by our server: Chef's Sashimi special (for 3), Lobster pan cake, Mussel with mushroom, and two other sushi rolls. I was impressed. They had me at the sashimis. (This is where my "speachlessness" comes in). The tuna, mackerel, salmon, shrimp, white tuna, was very fresh. The sashimi was tasteful, delightful, giving the taste buds a rather refreshingly sweet aftertaste every piece. No fishy residue like most sashimis I've had. Never had sashimi like that before. Very delighted, indeed. Absolutely five stars for the sashimi -- alone. Sushi was good as well. It was very simple. Tasteful and nicely presented. Unlike most sushis I've had, they do not over do the spicy sauce on the rolls we ordered. Instead, they dabbed it -- just enough to bring flavor in every piece. (Sorry, but I honestly can't remember the name of the rolls...) The staff was nice and the place was rather clean for such a location. Such an unexpected location, nonetheless. i would not ever think of visiting if someone hadn't taken me. The staff was either in a good mood or because of their culture or personality, but I never witnessed a server take much articulation in refilling my ice water. Kind of reminded of the Japanese tea ceremony. Another detail I couldn't forget, I couldn't help but smile and find it utter cute when I saw how they folded the toilet paper in the lady's room... I'll be visiting again, but not anytime soon due to the crazy schedule. If I do, will be bringing friends and/or families. Yes, this place was unexpected. But I guess sometimes, good things do come as an unexpected surprise. Who knows. Stay open, lighting could strike. ;)
by Christian Meir on I like Twist more. Shout is like Twist but with a smaller menu and smaller rooms. The noise in Twist can get annoying but in Shout it is inescapable due to the smaller atmosphere. Get upstairs and its not as bad. Great place to stop before going to some midtown clubs, so bring your friends. Basically, it is Twist but more Midtowny.
