by Katie B. on If you love Jersey Shore, you'll love My Studio! I didn't see any Snookies, but there were a whole lot of Situations running around. We arrived later in the evening (meaning morning) at drunk o'clock so maybe everyone was just sloppy because they had been at it all night and I'm not exactly giving a fair description of the crowd, but it is what it was, right? We were just looking to close the night out with a few fist pumps and the DJ brought it home with some mash ups that helped us burn off a little steam and cocktails (read:calories). I'm not exactly sure its Hollywood address is its permanent home (as I walked by it when it first opened on Sunset), but it sure was convenient, so I'm not complaining. All in all, I think my clubbing days are over (tear), but it was a good reminder that I've still got it - the moves, that is.
by Joellen Lenyard on Before 8pm on Tuesdays the $15 all you can eat and drink (beers) special per person is pretty hard to beat. That's probably why it's too gdamn packed (even in the rain!) to find a seat. If you don't mind slight discomfort, I've been known to cram a group of ten around a table the size of an ottoman though so don't let that hold you back. Service was also top notch, serving up bucket after bucket of icey Bud goodness. I didn't have the same oh-my-jeebus moment that I had at Bonchon across the street, but the fried chicken was aight. The only weirdness is that it's hard to tell what part of the chicken it is so I kept biting into bones and stuff. I also really enjoyed the Tteokbokki or for the white chicks out there, the spicy rice tube thing. Good spot in a sea of great Korean restaurants but the cheapo menu is worth a try!
by Tuyet Iwami on Bimbo's is my favorite venue in the city. Hands down. I'm serious when I say I want to get married here, or at least have some kind of party here. Everytime I go, I'm amazed and dazzled by the interior. I always tell my friends "it's so Rat Pack." This is what I visualize when I read about the places Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra performed. This is a place my grandparents would have hung out in their day. I love the raised tables in the back and the lounges. I love the lady who works in the bathroom. She cracks me up. "Door number three is open! Remember ladies, don't pee on the seats!" or something like that, I love it. I've seen Elbow, Sharon Jones and Dap Kings, and the Dodos here. I've loved every show. (except when Sharon Jones gave the sound guy hell the whole show, but I've seen her do that before at another venue). Going there for Yeasayer this weekend and I can't wait.
