This is my first review but I just had to do this. Originally, we were invited by our friend to go to Shark with her other group of friends. They had a table, we wouldn't have to pay much, and I could keep my jacket on outside instead of freezing my insides and outsides. However, plans were changed and it was decided we would go to Opera. I never heard of it till last night but I thought oh wells it's still a club, let's go. So valet parking for the club $20 typical in the Hollywood area. Line was extremely long but the table line was short of course. Although, I have to say that it shocked me to see so many Asians lined up. I'm Asian myself but my expectations were starting to crash when I was thinking of the place packed with them. I wasn't sure if it was going to be fun or not. Anyways, there was 18 of us total, 10 guys had booked a table for their bday boy, and the girls were going to get another but they let 5 of us in with that table and the other 3 to pay the cover price but at least the 3 didn't wait in that long line to get in for the same price. So that was sorta nice of them. I walk in and all I see are mediocre Asian guys. I wasn't trying to be superficial but goodness couldn't they at least let in some eye candy?! Well good thing my expectations were lowered outside the door because it wasn't so great inside. Dance floor is small. More people watching then dancing. Drinks were pretty expensive. Oh yeah, you can't use your credit card unless you're going to charge at least $25 on it. The music and DJ last night pretty much sucked. I hated how he would switch over from one song to another so abruptly, sometimes he would switch over to another song and you can tell everyone on the dance floor is like wtf? AND the song choices weren't so great either. Actually I don't even remember seeing the DJ, probably embarrassed to show his face. The decoration/set up of the place wasn't so memorable either. I just remember thinking "ehh, it's just a place to sit nothing fancy or nice about them." There are about 3 or 4 full bars but nothing special about them either. So remember all the asians I mentioned, well two fobby looking guys come up to us and says "Can you dance with me and my friend?", I straight out told them NO and walked to the other side of my friend while two of my friends agreed who later regretted and kept asking me to dance with them instead. First off, I'm not picky, just come up and dance with me. I love guys who can dance or at least has enough confidence to just go and dance with a buzzed girl on a dance floor who just wants to have a good time and at least then you might get to dance for bit till I realize you're not so fun to dance with. Overall, I love going clubbing with my girls, I usually have a great time but this place really bored me. The crowd, the music, the drinks, almost everything about the place kinda dragged me down to the point where I was sitting at our table ready to go home and it was only 11:30pm!! I was yawning, trying to stay awake since security/bouncer was walking around, and trying to convince my friend to go back to the car so I was sleep in there. LOL oh wells clubbing is for the experience and stories but I still like clubs where I have a lot of fun.

This place isn't for everyone.  I want to give 2 stars because it's nice inside, a lot of room, and there was good music.  But it simply was not worth the $10 I paid here. Not only did we have to stand in a line, and struggle with bouncer to get in (since my guestlist +4 didn't show up on his list even though I show him my confirmation), we had to then pay $10 to find it was pretty much empty inside.  There were 3 people standing around DJ trying to request songs, but all we get is an index finger telling us to wait. So music is good, but so is the music good in many places in the city.  I felt the place is a little too pretentious, not down to earth.  There are many free dance clubs around the world, in major metropolises, that you don't need to stand in line for, you don't need to get all hooched out for, don't need to pay cover or expensive drinks for, and still have a blast with a large group. Why do we not have more places like that in this city!? I was disappointed and out of 15 people in our group, only 5 of us ended up going in.
