by Richard D. on My boo and I came here on our journey from NY to Philly. The cheesesteaks here were meh. I've had better ones elsewhere. The meat is pretty bland. These two restaurants are like a couple of assholes in a pissing match. We bought food from Pat's across the street and came here because we wanted to try them both. Immediately they'd shoo us away. Keep in mind that all of the picnic tables are empty, and we bought food from them. We decided that they both suck and Cheesesteaks in Philly aren't good. But if you're dead set on getting a cheesesteak, head over to Jim's where the meat is actually somewhat seasoned and the workers are nice and friendly. Probably the first and last time we'll be in Philly. Surprisingly, New Yorkers are friendlier!

If I've ever wondered what it would be like to be an extra in the movie 8 Mile (um, I'm not quite sure I ever really have), I sure as shucks know now!! Finding myself as an observer of a genuine rap battle - oh lord, I'm so lame, is that really even what they're called? - at Silk City late on a Wednesday night was most definitely the highlight of my convoluted Philly evening. Hands in the air over here, burns and disses over there, beer and cocktails everywhere! An unpredicted good time that was absolutely the polar opposite of a typical night out with me and my crew left me amped, booty shaken and begging for more Auto Tune (educate yourself: http://www.youtube.com...). An entertaining time combined with friendly staff and stiff drinks made this last-stop night cap smooth... as.... well, Silk. Indeed.
