by Shelli Western on From outside, you don't see the golden glory. Once you entered, you would be enchanted by the golden decor and velvet feel of the hidden lounge. We had a private party here and it was so much fun. DJ played good music, drinks were delicious (but pricey). Overall, it was a very exclusive and upscale lounge. Would love to come here to feel special again :)
by Lakesha Muraro on The most fun I've had at a San Francisco club in a long time. I love the spacey feel and the decor... very classy. Reminds me of Harlot minus the crammed feeling. I also really loved the layout of the tables. Alot of clubs in San Francisco have a weird layout with regards to tables. If people spend money on a table they want to be seen. Too many clubs seclude them or put them off to the side where they can't been seen (Slide). At Manor West the tables are around the side wall of the club, but are elevated so you can actually see the dancefloor. I went on Friday night and really enjoyed the crowd and entertainment (Dj Zhaldee and Chris Clouse). A major reason why I stopped going to nightclubs in San Francisco is because of the crowd. Hopefully the crowd will stay semi-classy at Manor West. I also enjoyed the free Moet Champagne until 10pm.. These people are smart, feed free champagne to people and of course they'll have fun :) Funny when certain rateclubsers complain about all of the "douche bags" in a club.. then when you click on their profile DING! they are a db also. HA! :) On that note, guys in clubs tend to be douchey whether it be New York , LA, Miami, or San Francisco. So if all you're going to do is complain about the people at the club then do us all a favor and don't come. Bravo Manor West, I'll be back!
by Anna L. on Oddly enough, I think I like this venue better than the Oakland Yoshi's in terms of the set up and design. I am glad we got great parking up the street which was nice. They over-sold the seating so we wandered around for about 15-20 minutes looking for seats, when some of the staff pulled out extra seats for us in front. VERY NICE for not paying extra for early entry to save a seat. I bought the ticket with the impression that I might have to stand, but my friend that comes here regularly corrected me and insisted that you NEVER stand at a show at Yoshi's, it is not that type of place. Oh well, it worked for me either way. GREAT show with Jazz Mafia for Adam Theis' Brass Bows and Beats hip hop symphony. I loved the show! Service was aiighht, but the place was packed so we didn't bother ordering a drink til later. The bar set up looked cool, but it was stuffy in both the upstairs and downstairs lounges. Despite people's critiques of this place, I still think this place and the Oakland Yoshi's are better than the House of Blues in LA by a long shot. Bay area peeps should be thankful of such a nice venue that still embraces music like this. (Tear Drop... as I realize this will be my last show in the Bay Area as a "local"....)
