by Andrew B. on I think the Academy of Sciences Nightlife is a blast! I took some out of town guests there and they loved it. Get there early though because they close the rain forest and planetarium exhibits early, but you can check out the aquarium the whole time.
by Cristin Serfling on it was a friend's bday and he had reservations at cha cha cha's on mission but of course we were late since we were all on asian time. we got sick of waiting (and we were on a tight schedule) so we went over to this tiny place around the corner. bissap baobob is right next to cha cha chas but it was just as crowded so we went to the sister restaurant little baobob. only one of us knew the place but it came highly recommended by her. and it wasn't an upset at all! i've never had senegalanese food before but it was great! most of the dishes i can't even pronounced but everyone there loved their dishes. i had the shrimp in this coconut sauce and rice. the sauce was AMAZING. my friends and i tried to like it all up literally! it was slightly rich due to the coconut but had a hint of spice which gave a harmonious balance of spicy smoothness of heaven. drinks were also good. we had pitchers of the tamarind drink and the hibiscus but i was partial to the hibiscus. and everyone shared fried plantane appetizers the place is very small but staff and service was very accomodating for our large group. it's definitely more of an intimate place and it's very casual. apparently late nights there it's a hoppin' salsa scene where all these great dancers come out. only thing i'd say is that some portions are bigger than others depending on what you get. but it's definitely one person a plate it's not that big in portions but you are able to get full off of it.
