Took Mom and the family there for Mother's Day today. We hadn't planned well and were surprised to be able to get a late reservation for a prime time. We were seated promptly at a great table with a view of what remains of the park with all the construction. I think the new Piedmont Park parking deck is being built, and it's right in front of the restaurant's huge windows facing the park. Bummer, that the view is changing to a parking deck. The place was bustling with activity. And our service staff came to us immediately. We took our time with ordering, as the menu was crammed with so many intriguing choices, making decisions difficult. I settled on the Scottish Salmon with soft egg and red hash. Mom and my son went for the burger, my daughters the egg biscuit, but subbed Parmesan polenta for the red hash. My wife went for a collection of sides, (mushrooms, asparagus, and red hash), and the split pea soup. My salmon was fantastic, with the soft egg and red hash serving as the perfect compliment. My son is a pretty picky eater and turned his nose up immediately at the fries that came with the burger, (parsley specks introduced "green" into the equation). He gamely gave the fries a try, and was pleasantly surprised. At the end he was pleased with his meal, as was Mom with her burger. The egg biscuit included a soft melted cheese and was huge. My daughter really enjoyed it, but could not finish. We also enjoyed the lump crab meat appetizer. The only negative I could mention about our experience was the wait for our appetizer, then our meal. We were considering dessert, but opted out with concerns that it would take as long to come out at the rest of the meal. We even had a wait to get our car from the valet. Still, we enjoyed the food tremendously. The atmosphere inside is terrific, and I hope the construction on the park side does not damage their business. ONE has terrific food and deserves continued success in my opinion.

First Piebar with pizzas and now FLIP with burgers. FLIP... not that flippin' good. The place was packed and I thought that was awesome! I love loud places when I'm eating burgers. I start off with their Caesar salad that's got fried anchovies in it. I loved it, especially the chili frills. I got the corned beef burger and that wasn't that good. Well, the first 2 bites were good. But I do believe it was because of the bread. Now, are the buns made at FLIP or made at Alon's Bakery? The vodka battered onions rings were good, but it didn't have any flavor, but flour. I finished off with the nutella and marshmallow smoothie and that was really good. Would I return to FLIP and give the place another shot?  Eh...um.. er... ah... hm... well.... may... eek... only if a friend really wanted to go.  Otherwise, this is not my top choice for burgers.
