If you come here just to watch a show, that's fine, no complaints in the theatre. It's actually really amazing in there. My biggest complaint is with the actual restaurant dining experience. To put it simply: service was terrible, food just doesn't cut it for what you get. Let me start with service. My wife and I arrived at 6pm to hang around and get in line early for the 10PM showing of Tony Toni Tone. We didn't have any luck making a reservation online which means they were probably pretty booked but we took a chance anyway and tried to get a seat in the main dining area. No luck. That's fine I can understand they have a long reservation list. BUT -- the host, a guy with his own take on dreadlocks, directed us to the lounge/bar area and told us," it's the exact same menu." LIE!!!!!!! BIG FAT LIE! First of all, the bar menu was so tiny and it was so obvious that it was just a bar menu. I asked the bartender (a guy with his own take on a "flock of seagulls" haircut) if there was a separate menu, first he said "no it's the same menu" - then when I gave him the kind of look you give a guilty child that you know is fibbing, he began to stutter and say, "oh uh, uh, yeah there's a restaurant menu." I asked if I could see it, to which he replied, "um, uh, let me ask someone if you, uh... I'll send someone over to your table." What the hell?? Are they being trained to lie about the bar menu?? Our waitress came and so I asked her about the larger restaurant menu and she confirmed, yes there is a larger restaurant menu but we couldn't order from it. Finally!! someone with enough guts to tell the truth that the host and bartender didn't have the cojones to give. Oh it's not all hugs and kisses though because a couple sat next to us with a full restaurant menu 10 or so minutes later and the unthinkable happened really -- the waitress let them order from the regular menu!!!! Now, either she lied about the menu or she lacked the courage to tell them that they couldn't. LAME. I'll make this shorter about the food: Tenpura shrimp - Great Alaskan Roll - fish tasted fresh but the size was small and the roll itself was sloppy, it kept falling apart. Spicy Scallop roll - same criticism as Alaskan roll. Spider/soft shell crab roll - the soft shell crab was not fried long enough, lacked crispiness SPicy Chicken wings -  WAAAAY overcooked. Flavor profile it was just an ambiguous asiany-bbq flavor thing, no distinct notes. Peanut BUtter Cup dessert -- this was actually good. Thank GOD. I have high respect for the Yoshi's legacy and for what they offer to the Bary Area, I would gladly watch a show there again. But I would never ever ever eat there again. Here is what is saving this from being a 1 star review: The manager who was willing to get on the floor and ask if everyone is ok and even help serve, that's a good floor manager. The food came out in time. Wait staff is attentive.

In this town, when it comes to mega-clubs, yea- duh- it's all about who you know. Which is a good thing, 'cause I am ot about to set foot outside of my house in the lycra/spandex/polyester 6 inch patch of fabric that seems to be the ho-gurls go-to outfit to get into a club. THAAAAT little rant aside, didn't have much of a problem getting onto the roof (thanks, Gretchen!), but once up there it was clear (as with many LA clubs) that the bottle-serviced tables are the centerpiece of the entire organization, leaving the lowly regular bargoers to hit the bar ... repeatedly ... for drinks that are $10+ but the size of a teacup. Ahh, Hollywood. So predictable. Loved the ladies shaking their asses on the tables ... so ... go go-y. (New term = go go-y. Pronounced: go-go-ee. Live it) Spent a little too much, but had a good time shaking it ... and let's be real. I never met a rooftop bar I didn't like. Think of this place as Skybar's sluttier, more desperate cousin. Yes, that's it.

I went there on a Wednesday night with some girlfriends and it was pretty dead. Granted, it was a little early, but I'm not sure it would be too great on a regular night. Pretty disappointing...
