I've had take-out margerita pizza here several times and it's good. Not the best but good. Obviously this is a coal-oven pizza joint but the crust for some reason tastes a little stale? It's not crispy on the outside warm/soft on the inside as you'd expect. It's pretty much rough all the way through. Service isn't great. They wait staff barely talks to you, they mumble, & look totally miserable all while serving you. Also they overflowed my water glass at least 3 times leaving a wet mess for me to eat on. There weren't even that many people there at the time so there was no need to rush.

Okay I've decided that I'm no longer going to rate a nightclub based on the people. I realized that it's really not fair for a club, because they can't help what douchebags enter their doors, since they can't really turn people away on the sole basis that they look like douchebags. Also, I think based on who hosts the party that specific night and what type of music is playing, it really makes every night that much different. And plus, nightclubs always attract douchebags and skanky hoes, so that's just something that you come to expect. With that said, there are tons of douchebags and skanky hoes. Now with that out of the way, Manor West is very impressive for the size and location. I never went to Boss, so I can't make the comparison, but compared to all of the other SF nightclubs I've been to, Manor West definitely feels like it's more on the upscale end of the spectrum. The bouncers and guestlist girls are pretty respectful for the most part. Even when they have to deny people and cut off guestlist times, they do it with respect, instead of having power trips, which I really appreciate as a patron. Last night I got to the guestlist girl a mere 5 minutes after the 11pm cutoff time, and I begged her for some leniency so that I wouldn't have to pay the $10 admission. She didn't budge, but she did it in such a respectful manner that I was happy to pay the $10 admission and now know to get there a little earlier. Respectful bouncers and guestlist ladies are a HUGE plus for nightclubs, so I hope they continue to do this. The interior of the club is pretty nice for SF. It definitely feels upscale and I actually think the decor is very Vegas-like. And when I say Vegas-like, I don't dare to say that it's in the same league as XS, Pure, or Tryst. Think of it more like if it was a club in Imperial Palace or Tropicana or something -- at least it's still on the strip. The club is fairly small and the tables are set up strangely (like i'm watching Comedy Central's Roast of Flavor Flav), but it works. The female bartenders are all pretty hot for the most part. They make fairly strong drinks, but they need to work on their pricing. My first Crown & Ginger cost $7 and my second Crown & Ginger cost $9 -- are they just making up the pricing as they go along? Make it standard. If a drink is $8, then make it all $8. I am pretty impressed with their glasses though. It's the first time I've ever had glasses that were made of plastic, but strong enough to feel like glass. The worst part of SF clubbing is how all clubs try to make themselves "upscale" but then they serve cheap, flimsy plastic cups that feel like you're at a high school dance. Manor West definitely got this right with their solid glasses. Anyway, my first couple of impressions of Manor West have been better than expected. Both nights had awesome DJs that had great mash-up sessions, spinning hip hop and Top 40. It's literally a 15 second walk from my apartment, so that makes it even more golden. I'm glad to have a nightclub that's so close to where I live and also be better than most nightclubs I've been to in SF. Let's just hope that my impressions don't get shattered by a rude bouncer, a gang fight, or gunfire. Actually, a gang fight would be kind of cool.
