by Mary D. on Last Friday was my second visit to Busby's and both were fun nights. Busby's is unique because it is not your typical bar, club, or lounge. They have something to satisfy all of my friends. ARCADE! - Yes, you can feel like a kid again without kids around : ) Don't get me wrong, I LOVE kids but not when I am drinking haha They have your classic arcade games and others like darts, pool tables, and shuffleboard. (There's more... just can't remember it all) Venue - nice and spacious. There is a spacious bar with plenty of seats and a spacious dance floor. The restrooms could be maintained a bit better... ew... Music - This was probably my favorite part. They had a live 80's band! Fast Times. They had them perform in segments and in between they played like top 40 stuff. It was so much fun! I am a sucker for 80's music. They are a good cover band that I would want to see again. Cover - no cover before 10pm, after is $10 (Tip: you can sign up to be on the bands guestlist http://www.fasttimesba...) Parking - we parked right across the street at the meters (free at night)
by Lauren F. on How to be an almost perfect music venue....in 5 easy steps. 1) Be in what people may call "the shady part of town". This way people might not want to see a show there, leaving more tickets for you. Be forewarned though...in this shady area, you may encounter a drive-by egging while waiting in line. It happened to me. 2) Get great acts. I guess that should be #1, but I'm just writing them as i think. Get good bands to play, and people will come. Straight up. 3) Be real purty. Interior decor aside, I consider this to be a somewhat mini-Fillmore, but with a better upstairs area. It doesn't have the crazy chandeliers or the posters or the history like the Fillmore, but it does have a wrap around balcony area, allowing more room to dance and flail without worrying about whapping anyone with your arms. 4) Have multiple bars. There is one upstairs and one downstairs. Makes the lines less, and the easier it is to get a drink the better. There is food you can order and it comes to the bar as well. Shhhh...there is also a cocktail waitress upstairs. The less people know about this the more likely it is she will bring me my drinks. Don't tell. 5) Positive energy and positive vibes all around are necessary too. This place provides. The music, the decor, and the people all make amazing experiences every time. To be quite honest it might just be the company i keep, or the music i listen to. Burningelectrojamfunkcarnival (TM Fishbits) is always fun, regardless of the venue. I'm due back to the GAMH in April and cant wait for my return.
