by Nigel Graap on I have lived in Society Hill for 2 years and I have finally found a go-to place for a beer and a causal but very tasty meal. The Latest Dish is not the most appealing to the eye (it's just bland), but it is warm and welcoming. The service is good, but casual. The food was fantastic with generous portions. The chicken taco app was great (and was def enough food for an entree). The chicken sandwich was huge and delish. You must get the Mac & Cheese!! So good (I even have to say it is better than my own!)!! Huge beer list and a menu that covers almost anything you could be in the mood for. They also have many daily specials in case there is nothing on the menu that catches your eye! If you are in the area, pass on Bridget Foy's or Copa and go to the Latest Dish instead!
by Harley Maloney on I had a pretty bad experience here. I think this place really relies on its name and fame. Going here felt like I was going to a club. I got a lot of snooty vibes from the folks checking us in. My gf and I checked in here at 1 am on new years day, and the staff didn't seem very happy or helpful to see us. I'm not sure if it was because we booked through priceline or what. Anyway, we got a really crappy room, and the bellhop who brought our bags up said we had a really crappy room. It felt like a small dumpy shoebox with a coat of paint slapped on it. He offered to tell the front desk to give us another room and give us a call. We wait and wait, but nobody calls us. We call down and they tell us to wait, and they'll call us. Another 15 min later, we give up and go down there. The desk guy tells us then they have another room, but he wants 50 bucks for it. Not sure if he was gonna pocket it himself or it was the actual hotel. We say no thanks and go back to our room The location of this hotel is cool, if you wanna be on the walk of fame by the chinese theater and all, but otherwise, i would steer clear of this place. So this hotel was in Charlie's Angels, and a bunch of famous people have stayed here. If you're into that, you should check it out.
