by Hilton Bhandari on This place screams Awesomeness!! I totally agree with Brett H. I love the new look of Halo and the crowd is great- very diverse, which is hard to find in Atlanta. This is a great place to bring out of towners as well as if you want to just want to have a good time. The DJ is great on Saturday night. The bartenders are extremely nice- I spilled my drink and he made me another one for free! Did I mention that the cover is free-$5 and the parking is only $5! Can't beat that at all. Great job Halo :)

Much like Bimbo's 365, Cafe Du Nord's rich, red velvet ambiance is immediately comfortable and relaxing. The pool table is completely uneven and goofy, but that doesn't appear to matter as the competition is friendly and lackadaisical. Why then must they take the cover charge at the door every single night? Why won't they let me come in and sit and drink in the main area without paying a cover? Other venues (such as Edinburough Castle and The Hemlock) take their cover charge back where the bands actually play. I wish Cafe Du Nord would do the same. It's not like it is possible to enjoy a show from the main bar area anyway. I'd love to give this place 5 stars, but given that I only go here for shows once in a blue moon, I don't get to go all that often.
by Andrew K. on Went to go to a Russian festivity. I like outdoor bars, but I shouldn't have to pay a 15-buck cover in SF. Also, the location is weird. It's really easy to sneak in through the exit though, which is nice. And, there were lots of attractive people from the Commonwealth of Independent States, but many losers as well.
