Sometimes I forget about Parish. I had dinner there last night - service was welcoming and cozy. We had delicious Gulf oysters (perfect size and sweetness) along with the charcuterie plate for appetizers. I really enjoyed the minced trout on the charcuterie. I had a fantastic catfish - gulf catfish, tasso ham, Lousiana crawfish, smoked macque choux (delicious sweet corn by the way), lemon pernod butter - wow! The perfectly cooked fish was clean tasting and well-complemented - portion was perfect. My dining companion had fried chicken (only complaint- folks- if you are going to fry chicken breast (I prefer dark meat) don't pick a gigantic breast - you have to fry it so long it begins to dry out). The accompnying collards were perfectly seasoned- that great balance between the bite of the vinegar, the smoke of the ham and the cloying sweetness. Also, they mixed me up a great Dark and Stormy. The prices were reasonable compared the portions and quality of ingredients- a rarer thing around town these days. Sometimes I forget about Parish but that might be less often now. 4 stars!

this is actually a decent venue. i was there last night for some dub step action, and with both rooms open, as well as the outdoor area, it was pretty live. however, the bouncer (fat, bald, black dude) is a dick. a dragonfly employee told me i could leave to grab something from my car despite the fact that there were technically no "in and outs." so i left, and when i came back, the bouncer wouldn't let me in without paying again or let me speak to the employee who was just inside the entrance way. then, i caught him letting these 2 girls back in without paying. when i pointed out his double standard, he told me it was my attitude. then, when i asked what it was about my attitude, he responded over and over "exactly. exactly. exactly." i haven't heard this argument since i was about 10 years old. it might be different if this was an isolated incident, but a few of my friends have had problems, too. needless to say, i'm not going back here and recommend you don't either.
