Went here Satruday night and had a great time.  My friends and I got there early for a birthday party, so we posted up at the bar on the first floor and ended up with the best seats in the house for the first half of the night!  Rihanna and Katy Perry were both in the club and people were smoking weed on the outdoor area upstairs with impunity.  I don't always dig Hollywood clubs, but this one was great...it has a perfect balance between lounge and club and aside from the dance floor at times, they kept it from getting obscenely crowded...But I guess that's the benefit of being on the list at a "list-only" club, isn't it? Overall, a great scene with tons of gorgeous women (but that can be said for just about any club near Sunset on a Saturday night, right?) and the drinks weren't priced THAT bad (for Hollywood at least).  $7 imports and $10 cocktails, which compared to say, The Edison with its $14 cocktails and much sparser concentration of ridiculously hot women, gives H.Wood some much better value!

I used to have some great times at Mansion, so I can't fault it too much. But I hadn't been back in quite a while till this past weekend when we were out celebrating my birthday. I gotta say, trying to charge 3 girls $20 each to gain entry at 4:15 a.m. is not cool, Mansion, not cool at all. And for that reason alone, I probably won't go back anytime soon. It's definitely one of the South Beach clubs that's managed to remain popular while others of its ilk have opened and shut, and even reopened and shut again (Opium, Prive, Crobar/Cameo, the list goes on). If you're visiting Miami, and you're looking for that "South Beach experience" of your vacation dreams, Mansion is the place for you. Don't be scared though, if you get past the velvet rope for free, drinks are still crazy expensive. If you're in a large group or with a bunch of guys, bottle service may be the way to go. They mainly play house/electronic music (in the big room), but there's a smaller room devoted to hip-hop, which is usually packed to the gills.

One of the best hidden gems in the 415 with a rich soul tradition. Also a great stop before hitting Tsunami or NOPA. The bartender ran down the litany of famous singers that have made Wazeima one of the cornerstones of the Western Ad's history. Nice to know that in a town where neighborhoods are facing rapid "regentrification," people do take care to preserve an old local hot spot. "But seriously....Tina Turner?? Getttouuuut!"
