Do not go on a Sunday night. There is one particular promoter who is singlehandedly killing 1Oak. I won't go into detail but if you ever go you will find that he is always outside acting as though he is the second coming of the Messiah. While I understand and even appreciate a "hot" clubs need for exclusivity and a sense of mystique, it only makes sense if you're doing this to keep the stragglers out. Instead, this particular promoter was keeping out the beautiful people and the ones who were actually paying for tables. There were 10 people inside, and not a single one was attractive. Think girls wearing flats and F21 skirts from 1997, elderly men, and hipsters who aren't hip. One girl went outside to beg the promoter to let more people in, saying that they would leave their table, ask for a refund, and take their money to Tenjune. He shrugged and let in a crop of nerds. And if you think for a second that this was his act of retribution for the years of "uncool" people being shunned from hotspots, trust me, it wasn't. Never again.

Blake's is fun. It's the Atlanta neighborhood gay bar. The crowd is mixed, and often the front bar gets quite crowded at night. But, if you want to get a good idea what the ATL gay scene is, come to Blake's.

Not sure if my experience here last Saturday was typical. I was here for a birthday party and got in line as they cut off the guest list. Clubben TV was filming that night so a lot of girls were dancing on the bar counter while guys below were snapping photos of them with their camera phones. A fight broke out at one of the booths leaving a trail of broken glass from the booth to the door as the brawl moved outside to the street corner before it was broken up by the bouncers. This is definitely not the spot I'd return to for dancing.
